Description of Practice
The
nurse executive is prepared at the graduate level, is responsible for
managing organized nursing services, and is accountable for the
environment in which clinical nursing is practiced. This individual
collaborates with other health care organization executives to make
decisions about health care services and organizational priorities.
Nurse executives ensure that standards of nursing practice are
established and implemented, and are consistent with standards of
professional organizations and regulatory agencies. Their major
objectives are the evaluation of care delivery models and of services
provided to individuals and aggregates, and also to foster a climate
for practice that enhances productivity, job satisfaction, and
professional development.
