Description
of Practice
Nurses in medical-surgical nursing
provide care for individuals who have a known or predicted
physiological alteration. The practice includes case management and
considers all influences on the health status and the related social
and behavioral problems arising due to the patient's physiological
condition. Medical-surgical nursing is practiced in primary, acute,
chronic, or long-term care settings.
Eligibility
Criteria
All requirements must be completed prior to application
for the examination.

RN license in a state or territory of the United States or the |

recognized equivalent in
another country |

|  | Have
practiced the equivalent of two years full time as a registered nurse |

|  | Have a minimum of 2,000 hours
of clinical practice in the specialty area of |
| | medical-surgical nursing
within the last three years |

completed 30 hours of continuing education in medical-surgical nursing |
