Summary
This workshop will help nursing leaders learn to coach their staff to implement or improve their Shared Governance model. It will provide nursing leadership the needed elements of change management to facilitate a successful implementation of a professional practice environment. Executive Leaders and Managers will learn the role change needed for successful execution of Shared Governance.

Learning Objectives For This Workshop
- Discuss the history and evolution of professional practice and models of governance.
- Identify how role change for management leads to tranformation.
- Discuss the benefits of shared governance for managers and executive nursing leadership.
- Identify methods of coaching staff to use the practice model to provide a framework to improve quality and safety outcomes.
- Provide examples of outcomes.
- Discuss decision making models and examples from the audience.
- Practice the manager's role in coaching council activities.
- Define manager behaviors for peer review.
- Discuss the application of the tool kit in the practice environment.
A maximum of 7.25 contact hours will be awarded to nurses who complete this activity.
