Resources for Excellence: Healthcare Organizations and Faculty Collaboration

Summary:
Many healthcare organizations are interested in pursuing Magnet recognition through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. These organizations may not be aware of the resources available to them through collaboration with faculty partners. Nursing students and faculty can play many roles in the success of the facility's Magnet recognition. This one-day workshop focuses on the Forces of Magnetism as they relate to collaboration and engagement of resources between Schools of Nursing and healthcare organizations on the journey to nursing excellence and Magnet recognition. Specific topics relate to nurses as teachers, professional development, scholarly activities, need for research support, and theories and models of nursing. This session applies to graduate and undergraduate programs as well as to the staff of healthcare organizations - everyone has a role in an environment of excellence!

Objectives:

  • Describe the inter-relationship between practice and education in creating a professional practice environment.
  • Analyze the Fourteen Forces of Magnetism to discover common points of influence.
  • Develop a plan to partner healthcare organizations with schools of nursing to advance the professional practice environment.
