The American Nurses Credentialing Center provides consulting services in support of nursing excellence through Magnet recognition, Pathway to Excellence designation and accreditation of continuing nursing education. ANCC is uniquely positioned to offer consultation services and educational programs to organizations, individual hospitals, and health care systems. We have a rich history of leading, mentoring, and advising organizations embarking on the Journey to Magnet Excellence over the past ten years.
Our Services
Our consultation services provide health care organizations with assessments, guidance, and educational services in support of the journey to nursing excellence and Magnet recognition. Since 2004, ANCC has managed more than 800 consulting projects and over 81 workshops, supporting hospital and health system journeys to nursing excellence. Through this extensive experience and constant feedback analysis, ANCC has refined its consulting services and Magnet workshop presentations. ANCC also provides consultation services related to the accreditation of organizations to approve and/or provide continuing nursing education.
Our Consultants
ANCC refers independent nursing consultants who have an extensive association with the American Nurses Association, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Collectively, these consultants possess over 200 years of nursing, healthcare, and education-related consulting experience.
ANCC's consultants:
- Possess professional, academic, and experiential credentials appropriate to the services being requested and provided
- Stay abreast of current practice issues
- Possess expert knowledge base and skills in a variety of areas including: clinical nursing, administration, education, research, and leadership
- Effectively communicate with staff from all disciplines and at all levels
- Acknowledge the importance of organizational development and change and will seek to understand the client's organizational development, performance, and change dynamics
- Respond to each facility's or system's stage of development in the journey to nursing excellence
- Conduct collegial on-site assessments of nursing services and the organization to determine the strengths and limitations of a nursing service
- Identify opportunities and solutions that may foster change and would most likely lead to the achievement of Magnet status
- Provide learning forums in a variety of methods to meet individual facility and system needs
- Educate staff about the Magnet Recognition Program®, its history and philosophy, the application process and the forces of magnetism
- Provide timely feedback, summary reports, and recommendations
- Review Magnet sources of evidence documentation before submission
- Connect customers to a vast range of Magnet, certification, accreditation, and educational resources, products and services sponsored by ANCC
Once a consultant has been identified by the requesting organization, the Institute initiates a contract for signature. After the execution of the contract, a scope of work and the associated timeline is developed and agreed upon by the identified consultant and the requesting organization. In addition to the identified consultant, other ANCC consultants and resources may be utilized under the same contract by executing another scope of work. Our Staff
ANCC's consultants are supported by a team of exceptionally talented and committed nurse managers and staff in the Institute, who oversee and support the entire consulting engagement. The team monitors and facilitates project performance and progress; addresses operational and administrative concerns; and ensures accurate and timely accounting and administrative record keeping and reporting. Manager of Workshops and Consultatation, Mary Golway, MS, BSN, RN-BC manages consultation services and acts as the point of contact for informational requests, guidance and initiation of consulting services. Business and Technical Operations Specialist Don Griesheimer serves as the point of contact for administrative customer service.
