Dr. Julia Aucoin's nursing education and career began in the first two Magnet™ hospitals in Louisiana. She has taught evidence-based practice and nursing research for over 15 years. Julia has actively participated in committees and teams in five health care facilities that recommended a shared decision-making structure to blend with existing structures, has served as the leader for education at six departments in hospitals, clinics, and professional nursing organizations, and as faculty in eight universities guiding the development of new and experienced nurses. She is involved in pre-licensure and graduate nursing programs, providing consultation for curriculum and faculty development.

Julia is a national leader in continuing nursing education with extensive experience in accreditation consultation. She was formally trained in the new Magnet Model by ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® staff, and has a vast amount of experience with the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program which includes speaking and consultation. Julia has worked with clients, nationally and internationally, on both continuing nursing education accreditation and Magnet Recognition. She presents at the ANCC Journey to Nursing Excellence™ workshops. Julia is able to translate theory into practice and is able to motivate an organizatio's staff toward success using its own strengths. She is author of 101 Tips to Better Conferences and co-author of Conversations in Nursing Professional Development.
