Marsha Hughes-Rease, MSOD, MSN, RN

Marsha Hughes-Rease has over twenty-five years of nursing leadership experience from front line manager to executive. She has over ten years of both internal and external consulting experience working with clients from a diverse array of organizations including over fifteen health care organizations that have received Magnet Recognition® or are on the Journey to Nursing Excellence™. Marsha is one of the regular facilitators for the ANCC sponsored Magnet™ workshops and has designed and presents a one-day ANCC workshop on change management and transition during the Magnet Journey. She has presented at international and national conferences as well as at Magnet conferences where she introduced audiences to organization development practices and tools for increasing readiness to implement shared decision making models, participation of direct nurses in evidence based practice, research and quality improvement, and alignment with organizational strategic goals. Marsha has also developed an evidence-based leader development model that she is currently using to support leaders in various types of organizations to transition from a less transactional to a more transformational leadership style. She has published papers focusing on transition including Leadership Transitions in Organizations and Storing Hope: Powerful Ways to Help Whole Systems through Complex Change.

Education

Marsha received her BSN degree from the University of Kentucky, her MSN in Nursing Administration from George Mason University, her MSOD in Organization Development from Johns Hopkins University, and is currently attending Fielding Graduate University.
