Call for Appraisers

Deadline for Application Materials: March 21, 2014

ANCC seeks experienced nurse adminstrators, clinical nurses and advanced practice nurses to evaluate Pathway to Excellence applicants' written documents. As an intermittent employee of ANCC, appraisers are compensated for each completed organizational review. The Pathway office is in partricular need of appraisers with one of the following skill sets:

  • Bilingual
  • Long Term Care
  • Clinical (Direct Care Nurse)

Qualification Requirements

  • An RN actively employed with at least five (5) consecutive years of nursing experience
  • A graduate of a BSN program (Appraiser Team Member); or a graduate of an MSN program or Masters Program in a healthcare field (Team Leader)
  • A member of ANA, an ANA organizational affiliate, or Constituent/state nurses association

Employee Requirements:
If selected as an approved appraiser applicant, successful completion of several evaluative components over a six (6) month period is required prior to employment as a Pathway to Excellence appraiser. Required components include:

  • Pathway to Excellence Overview webinar (1 hour)
  • Appraiser Applicant Onsite Training May 15-16, 2014; ANCC office in Silver Spring, MD
  • Observing participant in a Pathway to Excellence review
  • Rater Reliability Activity (scoring of mock document)

Travel Requirements:
No travel is required for Pathway to Excellence Healthcare Organization reviews. Selected applicants are required to travel to the initial appraiser training at their own expense.
