During an active call for appraisers, ANCC seeks nursing experts to evaluate applicants as part of the Pathway to Excellence designation process.

• Help advance excellence in nursing practice
• Witness how facilities function in a context of excellence
• Earn a fee for each review

• Actively employed RNs in nursing clinical practice (i.e., staff nurse), nursing administration, or nursing education with at least 5 consecutive years of nursing experience
• Graduates of a BSN program (to be a Appraiser) or of an MSN program or Masters Program in a healthcare field (to be a Lead Appraiser).
• Members of ANA, an ANA organizational affiliate, or Constituent Member Association (i.e. state nurses association) Learn how to join ANA
• Currently licensed as an RN with no encumbrances (i.e., barred/suspended from federal/state healthcare programs, adverse criminal history, etc.)

• Organized and able to commit to meet established deadlines
• Good written and verbal communicators able to collaborate and achieve consensus with others
• Available for a minimum of 3 reviews each year
• Willing to participate actively with 3-person appraisal teams
• Able to attend an annual refresher session via webinar/conference call
• Internet savvy with computing, word processing and email skills

• If selected, you will be invited to appraiser training. Attendance is required but does not guarantee approval as a Pathway to Excellence Appraiser. Travel expenses are paid by applicant.
• A Call for Appraisers is announced at least 10 weeks prior to Pathway to Excellence Appraiser Training.
• No travel is required for health care organization reviews. Selected applicants are required to travel to the initial appraiser training at their own expense.
